Today is the 105th International Women’s Day. Here’s a few facts about the day that you may have not known, I didn’t.
“International Women’s Day”, was first suggested at a 1910 women’s conference in Copenhagen by activist Clara Zetkin, leader of the Social Democratic Party.
In 1911 The first “IWD” was observed in Germany, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland. In 1913 it was decided to name March 8th International Women’s Day.
The campaign theme this year is Planet 50-50 by 2030 … Step it up for gender equality and Gender Parity. I didn’t know what Gender Parity was so I had to look it up. This is a socioeconomic index usually designed to measure the relative access to education of males and females. Equal education opportunities for both girls and boys, women and men throughout the world. What an incredible thought that in 14 years this could actually come about.
