Yorkton played host to a number of events for National Aboriginal Day today (Tue). One of them was a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall.
Yorkton Tribal Council Chief Isabel O’Soup says she’s seen a renewed interest in improving First Nations and non-First Nations relationships in recent months, adding this day is very important to First Nations people.
Events were planned for today (Tue) at the Yorkton Tribal Council office, and at the Painted Hand Casino.
June 21st was first proclaimed as National Aboriginal Day in 1996, and the date was selected because it’s the longest day of the year.
