It’s Canada Day today (Fri) and the Yorkton Western Development Museum is celebrating with a good old fashioned family picnic.
The event runs from 12 till 4 and the picnic includes hot dogs, hamburgers, curly fries, ice cream and beverages.
Education and Special Events Programmer Carla Madsen says there will also be plenty of activities to partake in during the afternoon, including rides, face painting, an inflatable bouncer, vintage fire truck rides, novelty booths and more.
Children are invited to wear their most creative Canada Day outfits for the Kids Celebrate Canada Contest and adults can enter the Coolest Canadian Selfie contest on instagram at @canada day yorkton.
In Swan River Mayor Glen Mckenzie says Legion Park will play host to a number of activities, starting at 1 o’clock, which include a bandstand, with entertainers scheduled to perform all day, as well as bouncy castles and train rides for the kids. The day will wrap up with fireworks at dusk at the rodeo grounds.
