Yorkton is playing host to the Metis Nation of Saskatchewan Saturday for only the second assembly in 3 years.
The meeting comes after years of infighting, loss of federal funding and disputes of the location for the meetings.
The purpose of the assembly is to reestablish a form of government with an election on September 3rd which will replace the current one not recognized by all members.
The Metis Nation of Saskatchewan operations were shut down last year as the provincial government pulled 410 thousand dollars in funds.
The nation is supposed to meet twice a year and has failed to do so for 5 years.
