The proposed Yancoal Potash Mine near Southey has taken the next step towards development.
They received a conditional Environmental Assessment Approval, meaning Yancoal now has to meet a number of conditions.
That includes making a development agreement with the RM of Longlaketon, ensuring the RM is involved in the planning and construction of the project.
The next thing is apply for a water rights license through the Water Security Agency.
Several conditions apply also, including the requirement of monitoring and reporting water use, adopting water conservation measures, and paying water use charges for the volume of water used annually.
