I had a lot of fun baking and cooking this weekend. I made some delicious recipes and I can’t wait for you to try them. Today’s recipe was sent to me by Florence Nordick from Yorkton. Chocolate Squares, but I really don’t think that name does this dessert justice. Gooey Marshmallow Chocolate Squares or Sinfully Delicious Chocolate Marshmallow Squares. Something like that! Thank you Florence for this great recipe!
1 cup margarine
2 cups sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1 ½ cups flour
4 Tbsp. cocoa
1 cup (100g pkg.) walnuts, if desired
large marshmallows, approx. 40 cut in half
Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl beat margarine until smooth. Add sugar; cream together.
Add beaten eggs, flour, and cocoa; mix together. Fold in walnuts.
Grease a 9ʺ x 13ʺ pan. Bake for 25 minutes or until done.
Cover hot cake with marshmallows and return to oven until they melt slightly.
Cover with chocolate icing when cool.
Tonya here: For the chocolate icing I used a 340g container of whipped chocolate icing. I melted it for 30 seconds to make it easier to spread over the marshmallows. My oven runs hot so I did the toothpick test after 20 minutes and the cake was done.
*Thank you to the Yorkton Co-op for providing the ingredients.
