A new snow route parking ban during heavy snowfalls, has been added to the comprehensive Traffic Bylaw in Yorkton.
The new update states that a parking ban will be declared on designated streets only when necessary during heavy snowfalls.
Two designated routes will be used. The first being a high priority route, on which no parking will be allowed for 3 days following declaration or until the snow is cleared.
The other will include secondary priority streets in the downtown area.
When declared, parking will be available from 7AM till midnight, then no parking between midnight and 7 am for 3 days, or until the snow is cleared.
However, the ban will not take effect until next fall due to the need to obtain approval from the provincial Highway Traffic Board.
