It is a category no province wants to lead the country in, but when it comes to domestic violence, that’s what Saskatchewan has topped the past 3 years.
The province lead Canada in family violence in 2013, 2014, and 2015, with the latter having over 52-hundred cases reported, which is a small dip from 2014.
The numbers, and the study, were conducted by Statistics Canada, who also say Saskatchewan doubled the national average in 2015.
There were varying degrees of the issue that the study considered, which included uttering threats to physical and sexual violence to homicide.
The study also showed women were twice as likely as men to be victims of family violence.
