The trial concluded today (Thu) in Yorkton for a Cote First Nation man, charged with Second Degree Murder.
34-year-old Chester Whitehawk is charged with the February, 2016 death of 20-year-old Chad Cote.
Court heard that Cote died from blunt force trauma, after being hit in the head with a metal rotor, and then was stabbed 16 times.
In a videotaped statement, Whitehawk admitted to killing Cote, but claimed the victim had threatened to physically and sexually assault him if he didn’t join a gang.
The judge reserved his decision until April 21st.
