A pay cut of 3-and-a-half per cent is the latest measure being considered by the Saskatchewan government, in an effort to save money.
Premier Brad Wall says, in a news release, he’s asked the Board of Internal Economy to approve a 3.5 percent salary reduction for the Premier, all Ministers, and MLA’s.
In addition Walls says if approved, all staff in the Premier’s office, and minister’s office, will be required to take 9 unpaid days off a year.
The government believes the 3.5 per cent compensation savings would be achieved through negotiations with union that represent government workers or by employer policy for out of scope employees.
The government also expects the decrease for MLA’s and other staff will save about 500 thousand dollars a year.
