A 43 year-old Regina woman is facing one count of Human Smuggling and another count of Conspiracy to commit human smuggling.
At 9:00 p.m. Friday night RCMP intercepted a vehicle in a remote location between Northgate and North Portal, where nine West African individuals were transferred into the custody of Canadian Border Services.
While 43- year-old Michelle Omoruyi of Regina was arrested at the scene.
RCMP Inspector Donovan Fisher says the charges laid on Omoruyi also stem from a search warrant conducted at a Regina home this past weekend.
Inspector Fisher says a significant amount of foreign cash and evidence was recovered in the home.
United States Border Patrol also arrested several suspects in relation to this investigation, more information will be released on them at a later date.
RCMP will not confirm the age or gender of the nine West African individuals involved but did say they have all claimed refugee status.
Omoruyi will make her first court appearance May 15 in Estevan.
