A 17-year-old Yorkton boy has admitted to his role in an attempted armed robbery in the city.
On March 27th, two boys, who can’t be named due to their ages, decided to rob a drug dealer of his marijuana.
The 17-year-old got into a vehicle being driven by a reported drug dealer, and pointed a sawed-off shotgun at his head, demanding the drugs.
The driver panicked, backed his vehicle into a parked vehicle and a snow bank, so the youth fled.
In Yorkton Provincial Court this (Tue) morning, the boy pleaded guilty to Robbery with a Firearm and Pointing a Firearm.
He was sentenced to 16 months of open custody, to be followed by 8 months of community supervision, and 1 year of probation, as well as a 7-year firearm prohibition.
His 15-year-old co-accused returns to court next week.
