Plan, prepare, and be aware.
That is the message being sent by the Saskatchewan government as this week has been declared emergency preparedness week in the province.
The purpose is to educate the public on what to do in an emergency, such as a wildfires or flooding. Some of those tips include making a “bug-out” bag that has water, non-perishable food items, a first aid kit, etc. and creating an evacuation plan.
Others include downloading the SaskAlert app, registering for the Text with 911 service, making an emergency preparedness kit, and making an evacuation plan.
Emergency Preparedness week also happens to come at a time when provinces like Quebec are dealing with significant levels of overland flooding.
