Yorkton Municipal RCMP has teamed up with local businesses and community groups in an effort to have an Automated External Defibrillator in each police vehicle.
So far 4 of their 7 police vehicles are now equipped with an AED.
This will now raise the chances of victims surviving cardio-pulmonary arrest in life threatening situations.
All RCMP members receive training in the operation of the devices and are qualified to use them during situation in which CPR is required.
The City of Yorkton, YBID, the Yorkton Lions Club and Yorkton Dairy Queen have each contributed to the purchase of the 4 defibrillators.
Each AED costs 15 hundred dollars and the RCMP are hoping for 3 more businesses or groups to help equip the 3 remaining vehicles.
