The Saskatchewan government has decided to extend the effective date for the application of the PST to all insurance premiums.
After talks with insurance companies, the date has been set to August 1st from the original date of July 1st.
It will give insurance companies more time to implement the 6 per cent PST and address updates.
Those updates include applying PST to self-insured arrangements; exempting PST from individual permanent life insurance policies in effect prior to August 1st.
New policies effective after July 31st will be subject to PST.
And any endorsements added to insurance contracts with an effective date prior to August 1st are not subject to PST.
