The province of Saskatchewan wants residents to keep in mind they should still be vigilant, although Lyme disease is not currently prevalent in the province.
Doctor Denise Werker, the province Deputy Chief Medical Health Officer says the species of tick that carries the disease is the black legged tick.
The species can be brought into the province from migrating birds as well as people on vacation and their dogs.
Since 2008 there has been three confirmed cases of Lyme disease in Saskatchewan.
Two of which were picked up in other areas where the disease is well known.
