The University of Regina and Saskatchewan Polytechnic may be offering a bilingual nursing program in the near future.
And it could be implemented as early as September 2018, pending federal approval and funding; if approved, it is hoped that students register for classes in October.
In the meantime two bilingual professors have been hired and will start working within the next month.
The program would have 7 bilingual students who will study in the Saskatchewan collaborative Bachelor of Science in nursing program.
Half of the classes will be taught in French, the other half in English, and in the final year, a French immersion program is planned for students.
