Good Spirit School Division officials say it’s a low level threat, but they’re taking precautions nonetheless.
Director of Education Quinton Robertson says an anonymous note was found last week on a block of wood near the Yorkton Regional High School, and says starting Monday (16th), and running for the rest of the term, they will be increasing staff at the facility.
Safety measures include restricting access to the school, locking all but the main door and searching student backpacks.
Similar measures will also be put in place at the neighbouring Sacred Heart High School.
Parkland College CEO Dwayne Reeve says they are also stepping up precautions at their facility at Yorkton Regional, but not going as far as removing locks from lockers or searching student backpacks.
What the college is doing is restricting access to one door, and having a common hallway with the school.
