A new development in the case of a Canora man, scheduled to go to trial today on 7 animal cruelty-related charges.
In Yorkton Provincial Court this afternoon, the judge declared a mistrial, after it was learned that the defence lawyer had not received all of the disclosure from 74-year-old Walter Goba’s previous counsel.
The matters were then adjourned until July 17th.
Some of the charges allege that horses were in distress in the Willowbrook area between September and December of 2013.
Back in April of 2014, Goba pleaded guilty to animal abuse stemming from charges in the Swan Valley, and he received a 6-month conditional sentence, as well as a 10-year ban on owning pets or livestock.
