Melville is in the early stages of writing a letter to the Minister of Highways and Infrastructure, David Marit.
The letter is in regards to Highway 10 between Melville and Yorkton, and the need for passing lanes on that stretch of road.
There’s been chatter about the need for a passing lane there, to prevent any further collisions – fatal or not – from happening.
On Canada Day a two-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 10, near Melville, that ended up killing 3 people – 24-year-old man, 25-year-old woman, and shortly after a 6-month old boy.
Mayor Walter Streelasky says the idea of a letter came City Councillor Andrew Rondeau during a regular meeting on July 17.
When asked about the possibility of the community contributing to the letter, Streelasky says it is worth considering.
