Federal Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould is thinking about the possibility of dropping the legal alcohol limit for drivers in Canada.
She pitched the idea of lowering it to point-05 from point-08 to Quebec’s Justice Minister in a letter that was sent in May.
In it, Wilson-Raybould says the current laws were made after research indicated a driver was twice as likely to be involved in a car crash when they have a blood alcohol concentration of point-08.
She believes it will make it easier to combat drinking and driving.
Also in the letter, the Federal Minister says she is looking forward to hearing her colleague’s thoughts on the proposed change.
