Another delay in the trial of a Canora man, facing 7 animal cruelty-related charges.
The matters for 74-year-old Walter Goba were supposed to go ahead today (Fri), but neither Crown witness showed up, so it was adjourned until next Friday to be spoken to.
Back on June 30th, the judge declared a mistrial, after it was learned that the defence lawyer had not received all of the disclosure from Goba’s previous counsel.
Some of the charges allege that horses were in distress in the Willowbrook area between September and December of 2013.
Back in April of 2014, Goba pleaded guilty to animal abuse stemming from charges in the Swan Valley, and he received a 6-month conditional sentence, as well as a 10-year ban on owning pets or livestock.
