A 28-year-old woman has been charged in connection to a vehicle pursuit in North Battleford on Saturday (21st).
Amanda Wahobin is charged with possession of property obtained by crime and robbery, but the latter offences are not related to Saturday’s incident.
She has been remanded in custody to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court tomorrow (Tues).
At approximately 8:55 p.m. Saturday, RCMP responded to a report of a man being chased by a vehicle and being shot at by the occupants.
After a brief chase the suspect vehicle became immobilized after hitting a police cruiser near the intersection of 15th Avenue and 105th Street in North Battleford.
The driver, identified as 22-year-old Brydon Whitstone, of Onion Lake, Sask., died on the way to hospital after getting shot by a Mountie; the second suspect in the vehicle, allegedly Wahobin, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment, then released back into custody.
North Battleford RCMP are requesting an independent, external investigation into the death of Whitstone, as per RCMP policy.
The Regina Police Service will be conducting the investigation, and Mounties are also asking the Ministry of Justice to get an independent observer.
