With recall notices going out for Kiddie and Garrison brand fire extinguishers due to faulty nozzles, the Yorkton fire department is echoing some concerns.
Deputy chief Harry Wilkins says public safety is paramount.
“Just making sure that people are made aware of this recall, and how important it is to look to make sure that the extinguisher they have may or may not function properly.” Wilkins said.
“If this is one of their extinguishers that is on recall, and they’re put into a situation where they need to use an extinguisher and it malfunctions, it’s not only putting themselves at harm but it’s putting whatever exposures at risk as well.”
Push button Pindicator extinguishers are also recalled, and Wilkins says the best thing anyone owning one can do is see if it’s part of the recall by going to www.healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall.
