SGI is hoping residents take their message regarding not drinking and driving seriously this New Years.
2016 saw nearly 60 people killed in impaired driving collisions across Saskatchewan.
Manager of Media Relations Tyler McMurchy says with legislation for stricter penalties for impaired driving in place, the message is stronger than ever.
“Saskatchewan has the toughest impaired driving laws, in the country,” McMurchy stated. “You’re looking at vehicle seizures, licence suspensions, ignition interlock requirements and that’s on top of any fines or jail time.”
McMurchy says after a night of drinking, it’s never a good idea to get behind the wheel.
