Canadian Blood Services held a mock accident this morning (Wednesday) in Regina to show the need for blood donations.
Across Canada, there is a shortage of blood donations, as on average 50 units of blood are needed for a serious car accident.
Regina Mayor Michael Fougere says the mock accident really shows the need for blood donations.
” The Mock action we just saw here and the rescue demonstrates that people at any time will need help and so its important people think about yourself, family the needs you have and in the future when you may need a blood transfusion and isn’t there its so important to donate at the time of year or anytime of the year to certainly come out and make a donation.” Fourgere said.
All of Regina’s emergency services, including Regina Police, Fire Department and EMS, are taking part in a friendly competition to see who can donate the most blood.
The campaign began today, and wraps up March 10th.
