Saskatchewan’s Privacy Commissioner detailed in a recent report that students’ personal information was breached by Regina Public Schools.
Ronald Kruzeniski said in his report that over 2,000 documents had been uploaded to a church website without the consent of the students.
Information such as photos, grades and brithdates of 77 students were uploaded to the website; their families have been informed of what happened.
Kruzeniski recommended guidelines around record keeping, including student records be kept only on the Regina Public School’s computer network.
Regina Public Schools has publicly stated that they have made “reasonable efforts” to contain the breach.
