The national anthem is poised to change slightly, after the Senate passed a bill that renders the anthem gender neutral.
But the bill needs royal assent from the Governor General before it becomes official.
The current lyrics, “in all thy sons command” would change to “in all of us command”.
In 2016, a Liberal MP introduced the bill and it was passed in the House of Commons that same year.
Some Conservatives Senators were not in favour of the change, arguing Parliament had no business tinkering with the words of the anthem.
