The Yorkton RCMP along with the Yorkton Fire Protection Services Committee held a Town Hall Policing Meeting at St Mary’s Cultural Centre Thursday.
“It’s an opportunity for the police and Yorkton here to engage the community, engage our stakeholders and providing an update in regards to policing activities,” said RCMP Staff Sargent Jeff Simpson.
“But also in soliciting important feedback from them in regards to crime and areas of concern and how safe they feel in the community.”
Among the topics was the discussion of the importance of the meeting, and Simpson says it is crucial.
“The community is important for us to provide us with that information and without that ability to have face-to-face conversations with the citizens and the community, it doesn’t give us a full picture as to what’s occuring within the city.”
By holding meetings like these, Simpson says the connection between residents and the RCMP will get stronger.
