B-H-P still hopes to have a producing Potash mine about 150 kilometres east of Saskatoon.
The company continues to work on the Jansen project noting the discovery of a first layer of Potash during recent exploration is a significant milestone.
Manager of Corporate Affairs Ken Smith predicts if developed, the Jansen mine will be a technologically modern and efficient model for future B-H-P projects.
Smith says moving ahead to full scale construction is not being recommended this year because of the low commodity price and B-H-P is looking for a project partner.
The company may seek board approval for Jansen if the financial picture for the Potash project improves.
