Some of Saskatchewan`s best, received the Order of Merit last (Wed) night in Regina.
Six recipients were bestowed the honour, the highest that can be given to someone by the province.
“It recognizes their incredible contributions to Saskatchewan and in some cases beyond Saskatchewan,” said Lieutenant Governor Tom Molloy.
The 2018 recipients are:
–National Chief Perry Bellegarde, Assembly of First Nations, Little Black Bear First Nation;
–Gail Bowen, Author, Regina;
–Dr. Robert Calder, Professor Emeritus and Author, Saskatoon;
–Maurice Delage, President of Delage Farms Ltd., Indian Head;
–Thelma Pepper, Photographic Artist, Saskatoon; and
Neil Richards, LGBT Archivist and Activist, Saskatoon (posthumous).
The Saskatchewan Order of Merit was created in 1985, and 229 people have been bestowed the honour since its inception.
