The Commercial Vehicle Enforcement group has been renamed the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol.
The new look, name and mandate was made to reflect its expanded responsiblities.
Along with its primary role of protecting provincial highways, it will support the provincial Protection and Response Team (PRT) and enforce Criminal Code violations.
Other duties include enforcing speed limits and other traffic violations, responding to motor vehicle accidents and 9-1-1 calls, investigating impaired drivers. and taking action when offences are committed.
First day for the patrol is Canada Day (July 1st).
