Ontario putting checkpoints in place at all interprovincial borders with Manitoba, Quebec, effective 12:01 a.m. Monday, as part of COVID-19 restrictions.

The Manitoba government is making residents aware that effective 12:01 Monday (19th) morning, Ontario is putting checkpoints in place at all of its interprovincial borders with both Manitoba and Quebec.

In a release, it is noted that access to Ontario will be limited to essential travel only, including essential workers and the transportation of goods, to those traveling for medical care, and to those exercising Indigenous treaty rights.

As well, the Ontario orders state that individuals can only travel to the province to visit a principal residence, or to respond to a critical incident, including travel to prevent damage to property.

Anyone without a valid reason for entering Ontario will be turned back.
