Day one of GX94-FOX FM’s “Airways for Health” Radiothon is off to a good start, with contributions coming in left, right, and centre.
Some notable donations included a pair of 2 thousand dollar donations, made by Debra Barteski on behalf of the Canora Hospital Auxiliary, and Mike Thompson on behalf of the Yorkton Kinsmen, Curtis Loucks from Loucks Pharmacy with a 3 thousand dollar cheque, and Ryan Hoffman with Collins-Barrow handed over a cheque for 28 hundred dollars.
GX94’s Tonya Cherry handed Health Foundation CEO Ross Fisher a cheque for 2 thousand dollars, raised by the sale of her Christmas Goodies cookbook. The biggest one of the day went to Mosaic corporation who donated 30 thousand dollars.
Meanwhile the Yorkton Co-op are once again running their “fill up for the health fund” event, which 5 cents from every litre of gas sold at the Co-op gas bars today and tomorrow will go to the fundraiser.
The Health Foundation’s Ross Fisher says this has been one of the best, first days they have ever had with this event, raising 48, 835 dollars.
Last year’s event brought in over 84 thousand dollars, with the money going to help pay for the new CT scanner.
The money raised, when it’s all set and done tomorrow, will go towards the purchase of new equipment for the ICU at the Regional Health Centre.
