Every year, roughly 1 thousand tonnes of lawn clippings goes into the landfill, instead of being mulched or composted.
And to raise awareness in reducing that waste, Yorkton’s Mulch it-Compost it program is up and running again for the 3rd consecutive year.
One of last year’s participants, Paulette Cooper says she has practiced mulching and composting for many years, and encourages everyone to do the same.
Those who wish to participate are then eligible to win prizes, such as a Mulching mower and a composter, and must document their lawn practices over the growing season. The program is on until June 10th.
