It’s that time of the year once again, as mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus are out and about.
So the Saskatchewan government is advising people of it and how to prevent exposure to a bite.
Some tips include wearing long-sleeve shirts and pants as well as using insect repellent when outside. The Culex tarsalis mosquito, that has the virus, are usually active from mid-July to the end of August.
Typically the level of risk when bitten all depends on the weather, and symptoms range from nothing, to mild fever and body aches, to an extreme case in death, with 17 reported in Saskatchewan since 2003.
