The investigation into a Vanscoy potash miner who got caught in between two pieces of mining equipment early Monday morning remains ongoing.
However that’s overshadowed by that worker, 29-year-old Chad Wiklun, dying from his injuries in hospital late yesterday evening.
He leaves behind two daughters and his partner of 13 years, Celina.
A trust fund has been established by the union representing the Vanscoy employees for the children, and the company that owns the mine, Agrium, will match all donations made.
Back on Monday, around 2:45 am, Wiklun was underground when he crushed, and was subsequently transported to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, with what was being reported as “life threatening injuries.
