How the City of Yorkton will deal with areas constantly flooding, was up for discussion during Monday’s City Council Meeting. Mayor Bob Maloney says council has approved to go ahead with a study to identify possible solutions. The 100 thousand dollars will be provided through the 2017 Capital Budget. The study will consist of a topographical survey by airplane called LiDAR. The model will map the city and the problem areas allowing the identification of possible options to alleviate flooding. 2 main problem areas that have been identified include the storm pipes under highway 9 and the Victoria Ditch System.
