A community drive in Yorkton will work to encourage interested families and individuals to learn more about becoming a foster home.
The drive is a project put on by both the Saskatchewan Foster Families Association and the Ministry of Social Services.
Social Services Minister Tina Beaudry-Mellor says Yorkton has seen a significant decrease in foster homes in the past 4 years. There has been a 35 percent decline in Saskatchewan for approved foster homes in that period of time, while Yorkton’s decline in the same time period is almost 50 percent.
The drive will include billboards, advertising, direct mail and outreach to human service organizations within the community.
