President of Hockey Canada Tom Renney is stepping down from his current role, to focus on his other role as Chief Executive Officer.
The man replacing him will be Chief Operating Officer Scott Smith, effective July 1st.
Renney says promoting Smith will aid the nation’s governing body in delivering it’s mandate of growing hockey in Canada and abroad more effectively.
Smith will still oversee the day-to-day operations as C-O-O, but will also have a more public role for the organization.
Renney joined Hockey Canada in 2014 as President and CEO, while Smith joined the organization in 1995 and was named C-O-O in 2007.
