The positive ticket initiative, started by the Wynyard RCMP and 13 local businesses 2 months ago, has been a success thus far.
That’s what Constable Dean Kletzel stated, and when the initiative first came to be, he wasn’t sure what to expect, but has received good feedback from residents.
Positive tickets are given to kids 18 and under who promote safety in their community or do positive acts of service, such as shoveling snow from sidewalks. So far 5 have been handed out.
Kletzel definitely encourages other communities in Saskatchewan to start a similar initiative. He says the idea came from the Kindersley detachment, where he used to work, and did a similar campaign, focusing on bike helmets.
He has also thought of expanding it to all ages, but would prefer, at the moment, to keep the current format a while longer.
