Statistics Canada released job numbers on a year-over-year basis, and they don’t look good for Saskatchewan.
From this time a year ago, there was a loss of 79-hundred jobs, with the majority coming from the resource sector.
However the government pointed to provinces such as Alberta and Newfoundland, as the former lost over 17-thousand jobs, and the latter 57-hundred over the same time period.
Despite the gloomy numbers, the government is cheering the fact the provincial unemployment rate dropped for the second straight month.
The Saskatchewan NDP says it is this attitude that needs to stop, as Interim leader Trent Wotherspoon says the Saskatchewan Party can’t gloss over that because Saskatchewan people know better.
Wotherspoon also says people are struggling to make ends meet in the province and while others had growth in full and part time work over the last year, Saskatchewan saw a major decline.
