The Saskatchewan RCMP are reminding everyone that the number 911 is for emergencies only.
They shared some peculiar calls they received in 2016 on their Facebook page.
The calls ranged from someone cleaning their house, and thought they accidentally threw out a small propane tank and was afraid it may explode, to an individual wanting to find out when their friend would be released from police custody.
Other ones included an individual called to complain about no heat in the bar they were attending. A person called 911 because their neighbor had an outdoor Christmas light projection display lighting up the side of their home and it bothered them.
An individual called asking police to find out their online friend’s addresses so they could send them Christmas cards, another was to wish the members a Merry Christmas, and a person called because they needed a cab.
While the Mounties don’t want to discourage the use of 911, they’re reminding the public that 911 is an emergency line.
In non-emergencies, the public can call their local police service or RCMP detachment or call 310-RCMP in Saskatchewan.
