The Manitoba Government is proposing a bill that would reduce red tape for small businesses.
In a news release, Deputy Premier Heather Stefanson says the bill would have a “one-for-one rule”, which is removing a regulatory requirement with an administrative burden for every new requirement that’s put in place.
For small businesses that means it would allow them to access services they need to grow without long waits or confusing instructions.
For years, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business has advocated for provinces to adopt red-tape reduction policies for small businesses.
However, the legislation wouldn’t be introduced until this spring.
The announcement marks the beginning of Red Tape Awareness Week in Manitoba.
