Crude oil spilled from a pipeline onto agricultural land owned by the Ocean Man First Nation, located north of Stoughton.
Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Environment, the First Nation, and Environment and Climate Change Canada, were informed of the spill on Friday.
Since then, 200-thousand litres of oil leaked, and the pipeline was shut down.
Cleanup efforts are well underway, with 170-thousand litres recovered, and the province says no wildlife have been affected. An investigation into where exactly the spill occurred, as well as how it happened, is also underway.
