Grandview Credit Union members have voted to amalgamate operations with Brandon-based Sunrise Credit Union.
On Monday (1st), over 77% of members who cast ballots, voted in favour of the merger, and Sunrise President and CEO Tim Klassen, explains the reasoning behind the stand-alone institution coming on board.
“These days as technology becomes more expensive, personnel and all the other costs that go along with that, they need to look at different alternatives.” He said
“(A) merger is certainly one of those strategies they could use, and we’re excited that they chose Sunrise.”
With the merger, which takes effect on May 1st, 15 branches, about 24-thousand members, and nearly one-billion dollars in assets will fall under the Sunrise Credit Union umbrella.
