Vindication for a Key First Nation Band Councilor facing drug-related charges from February 14th. 64-year-old Clarence Papequash was arrested in Regina last Tuesday, after police found a pill on him. However, he was released on Friday, when the Crown learned he had a legal prescription for the medication. On March 13th in Yorkton, he pleaded guilty to Possession of Codeine for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Possession of Ammunition While Prohibited, and was scheduled to be sentenced on April 24th. Back in July of 2014 while he was Chief of the reserve, Papequash admitted to Trafficking Morphine, and received a 6-month conditional sentence.
