Saskatchewan’s summer forecast is for hot and dry, but without an increased risk of wildfires or tornadoes, unlike our neighbours to the west and east. Senior meteorologist with AccuWeather, Brett Anderson, says it will be an active wildfire season particularly for northern Alberta but in Saskatchewan we have enough moisture in the ground to stem that trend. There will still be wildfires, but just the average amount. The hot, dry weather is because of a a high pressure system that will be prevalent from the end of June through August. It’s also the reason why there won’t be an increased risk of tornadoes.
