Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall had an unexpected guest step on stage during last night’s (Thurs) Premier’s dinner in Regina.
A woman, who was one of the few dozen demonstrators outside, interrupted the beginning of Wall’s speech — chanting “Stop the cuts” and Shame on the Sask. Party” before she was escorted out by security.
Afterward Wall says the government knew the budget wouldn’t be popular, but believes the decisions are in the long-term interest of the province.
Protesters gathered outside Evraz Place in Regina two hours in advance of the Premier’s dinner.
They had signs that read “Cuts like a knife”, “Honk if you love public services” and “Off the backs of the poor.” — all referencing the highly-criticized provincial budget.
