The Canadian Blood Services is urging everyone, including people in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, to come out and donate.
The organization says current blood reserve levels are around 12-thousand units — well below the 20 to 25-thousand units usually stored.
C-B-S says O-type blood is needed the most because it is the “universal donor” meaning it can be used by any blood group.
Anyone who is interested in rolling up their sleeves can go to the Canadian Blood Services website, www.blood.ca to see if they are eligible and able to give.
The next opportunity to donate in Yorkton is July 11th, at the St. Gerard’s Parish Complex on 3rd Avenue North.
